Not only will this court ruling affect her and her family for years to come, but it is also indicative of a larger issue plaguing Iraq. In Islamic nations, it’s common to see religious minorities stripped of their identity or denied basic rights due to their faith.
Thankfully, due to the weight of media pressure around this case, there are many eyes on Iraq. It is our hope that through prayer and international attention, we will see a step toward religious freedom in the Middle East.
